Hello ! Jai Hind !
Welcome to Competition In Depth.
Dear readers,
History is a subject which is present in every field, if any other subject is also read, then somewhere the reader is reading history because all those things have already happened. So what is history today? What does this mean ? Learn about it.
History
History is the story of the systematic and systematic human development of events in the past. Just as a building cannot be erected without foundation, in the same way no nation can progress without knowing the history of culture and civilization. Therefore, on the basis of history, we study the civilization, culture and events of our past. It is not necessary that things which look like today were the same yesterday or will remain the same tomorrow. Whatever is in the present will be past tomorrow, that is, it will become a part of history. History helps us to make our future safe and beautiful on the strength of the past. History in Urdu language is called Tawarikh, this word is plural of date. But it is not proper to call history as a date because history is not merely a compilation of dates of events. There is no doubt that history is about changes coming at different times. It is related to how things were in the past and what changes have happened in them.
Just think, while driving mobile, you must have thought that how people used to contact remote people at the time when there was no mobile or internet? Or while eating samosas or momos, I have thought in my mind that when, where, how and who would have made them first? Now think like this, did people from all over the world suddenly start running mobiles? Or was our country suddenly enslaved or got independence? So their answer is no. All these things happen in a long time. So how can history be linked to dates? This does not mean that dates have no significance for events for which a definite date can be given, like when did India become independent from the British rule? On which date the constitution of our country came into force? The importance of date remains in such questions. Modern historians have started writing on many other issues and other questions. Such as writing on social, cultural, economic and political etc. That is, what did they do for living? How did they get the knowledge of agriculture? How do new ideas thrive and how do we consider topics like culture, change in society, etc.
Literal Meaning of History:
After breaking the treaty of history, it comes to its meaning, which means - 'This is what happened', that is, everything that happened in the past on this earth is under history. History is called History in English which originated from the Greek word Historica. In Greek, its meaning is - to know, weave, to know, or to discover the truth.
Note:
The Greek historian Herodotus is considered the father of history. It was he who compiled the events that took place in the past, based on stories, stories etc. Therefore, he is also considered the father of narrative history. For a long time, history continued in this way, but in the 19th century, Germany's 'Leopalatu van Ranke' developed the scientific method of knowing history.
According to him, "To present the event in its true and real form is history."
Definition of history:
As has already been said that the field of history is very wide, tying it in limited terms is a difficult and complex task, yet historians have tried to define history. Some of the main definitions are as follows -
According to Maitland - "Everything that humans have done, or said or considered, is all history."
According to V. D.- "History is the scientific study and report of our entire past."
According to Dr. Radhakrishna - "History is the memory of the nation."
According to Rappson - "History is the study of the progress of ideas or events."
According to the dictionary - "Accounting of public events."
That is, in this way we can say that history is a sequential story of development of human society. Which is neither fully scientific nor fully artistic. Rather it is a mixed form of both and both are based on each other. It is about the work done by humans in the past. The historian tries to present the correct history based on many sources so that people can easily understand and learn from important events in the past. Like historian D.R. Bhandarkar has succeeded in writing the history of Ashoka on the basis of records only. On the basis of history, we study the civilization, culture and events of our past. It is a form of human development, which has been going on since the past. Therefore, history is the scientific calendar of the past which tries to give us the answer of when, where and why, in relation to the past.
